Tips on How to Shave

Step 1: Wash Face

Wash face with soap and warm water to help clear the hair of any oils, and the face of any dead skin cells. The water will also have the added benefit of softening the hair making it less resistant to the razor blade.

Step 2: Apply Shave Gel or Cream

Do not shave without a form of lubrication. The shave gel or cream will serve to reduce friction between the skin and the blade, as well as carry away the hairs that have been cut.

Step 3: Are you Supposed to Shave With or Against the Grain?

Begin by shaving in the direction of hair growth (with the grain). This is important to help prevent razor bumps and burns. Rinse the razor with warm water after each swipe to remove extra debris from razor.

Step 4: How to Get a Close Shave?

If a closer shave is needed, carefully shave in the opposite direction of hair growth (against the grain). However, this could lead to ingrown hairs, razor burn and skin irritation so use caution when shaving against the grain.

Step 5: Rinse Face

Rinse your face with cool water to remove any residual lather and excess hair and debris. The cool water also serves the purpose of closing your pores.

Step 6: Dry Face

Pat dry your face with a clean towel. Rubbing may cause irritation and redness. Apply an alcohol-free post shave cream to soothe-hydrate your skin.
