Meet Bobby Sutton
What is your current role at Dukal?
I am an Account Executive for the Central Region partnering with my distributor and end user customers and educating them on the quality, value, and performance of DUKAL’s extensive product line.
What is your favorite part about working at DUKAL?
My favorite part about working at DUKAL is it is like a second family. The family like environment within the company was built by DUKAL’s owner Gerry Loduca and it is felt by everyone each and every day. I have developed many great friendships and relationships both internal and external during my time at DUKAL.
Where do you live and why do you enjoy living there?
I live in Trinity, FL which is on the west coast of Florida and 30 minutes from Tampa. I grew up close to here and knew this is where I wanted to stay and raise a family. The Gulf of Mexico is minutes away and the beaches here are ranked annually as some of the best in the country. You can enjoy outdoor activities year round and Florida has so much to offer when it comes to that.
What is your favorite DUKAL product and why?
It’s very difficult to choose my favorite DUKAL product because we carry so many great products that are helping people heal every day. I like to try as many of our products as I can to experience them first hand since I am talking about them on a daily basis. I have to say my personal favorite is our sting relief pads. The summer evenings in Florida are when every pesky insect and mosquito known to mankind, some being the size of pterodactyls, comes out to prey on their next victim. The only way to avoid being bit or stung is to wear a NASA spacesuit or a beekeeper’s suit which I’ve tried both and not only is it way too hot for that but I’ve gotten some pretty strange looks from my neighbors. I am pretty sure I have tried every product ever made to help ease the itchiness and pain from these insect and mosquito bites. Our DUKAL sting relief pads start working the moment you apply them and are by far the quickest and most effective sting relief product my family and I have ever used.
What is your favorite hobby?
My favorite hobby would best be described based on the time of year. Every September through December, I spend my weekends with family and friends tailgating and cheering on the University of Florida Gators. I am in the stands at every home game and some away games and when not attending in person I am watching them on TV all while eating some food I’ve just cooked on the grill or in the smoker. The remainder of the year I enjoy camping with family and friends at campgrounds, beaches, and parks throughout Florida in our RV making memories to last a lifetime.
What role does social media play in your selling process?
More and more, social media is playing an important role in my selling process as people are actively using Facebook and Twitter to keep up with the latest news and events and our company realizes the importance of this by getting product releases, info, and announcements on there and my customers are seeing it on a regular basis.
Who’s idea was it to start photo-shopping you and Tony’s heads for the email blasts?
Although Tony tries to take all the credit for it, it was actually me that came up with the idea to start photo-shopping mine and Tony’s heads for the Central Region email blasts. I wanted to try something different that would catch people’s attention the moment they opened up the email and we have certainly accomplished that. All of the credit though goes to our creative Marketing Team that works so hard to transform Tony and I into the different characters each month and who help us come up with the catch phrases and put it all together in a newsletter and distribute it for us. We are all having a lot of fun with it, that’s for sure!
What made you want to get into sales?
I wanted to get into sales because I enjoy meeting, talking to, and getting to know people. I don’t feel like I chose sales as a career rather that a career in sales chose me. I learned early on from my parents and grandparents who all were involved in sales at some point in their life how rewarding and fulfilling sales is and how having a positive energy about yourself can help you form great relationships with others both personally and professionally.
What motivates you?
I wake up every day wanting to be a better person than I was the day before. I want to provide a great life for my family and I and I want to accomplish all of the goals I have set out for myself.
What are three adjectives that you would use to describe yourself as a sales rep?
The three adjectives I would use to describe myself as a sales rep are resourceful, genuine, and lastly persistent because after all I have to live up to the nickname “Bulldog” which was given to me by Tony.
