Dukal Teams Up with Habitat for Humanity to Build Stronger Communities

At Dukal, giving back is more than a value; it’s part of who we are. Recently, members of the Dukal team partnered with Habitat for Humanity for a hands-on volunteer day, helping to build safe, affordable housing while strengthening connections within our Long Island community. The experience brought together employees across departments, all united by a shared purpose: making a meaningful difference.

A Day of Purpose and Teamwork

From venting to insulation and assisting with yard work, Dukal volunteers rolled up their sleeves to contribute directly to the construction process. Habitat for Humanity projects rely on the collective effort of volunteers, skilled supervisors, and the future homeowners themselves, which makes each build a true team effort.

Giana Iaconetti, Sr. Designer and Photography Specialist and member of Dukal’s Culture Team, shares: “Being part of such a meaningful experience with our team was really special! I stepped out of my comfort zone, we strengthened our connection as a team, shared plenty of laughs, and made a positive impact on our community.”

Aimee Kenline, Senior Creative Director and member of Dukal’s Culture Team, shared: “Participating in Dukal’s second Habitat for Humanity build—my first—was an incredibly rewarding experience, with everyone showing a fearless willingness to learn, try new things, and step outside their comfort zones. It was especially meaningful to connect and collaborate with coworkers from across the organization in a way we don’t often get to do day-to-day.”

Building More Than Just Homes

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families build and improve places to call home. Each home is constructed through a partnership between volunteers, donors, and the future homeowners, creating not just a house, but a foundation for stability and growth.

A key component of the Habitat model is “sweat equity,” where homeowners are required to spend approximately 300 hours of their own labor towards building their home. This investment fosters pride, ownership, and a strong connection to the community they are joining.

Because of this effort, families are able to purchase their homes with a reduced mortgage cost. It’s a model that emphasizes empowerment and dignity, often described as a “hand up, not a handout.”

The Culture Team in Action

Opportunities like this are driven by Dukal’s Culture Team, which plays a vital role in shaping employee engagement and community involvement. Focused on fostering a positive workplace and giving back to the Long Island Community, the Culture team organizes initiatives that connect employees with causes that matter.

From volunteer days and charitable events to team-building activities, the Culture Team is dedicated to strengthening relationships, both within Dukal and beyond. Their efforts help create a workplace culture that is rooted in collaboration, compassion, and purpose.

“Our team creates opportunities for Dukal employees to feel a sense of pride in themselves and their impact on society. Through philanthropic partnerships, community outreach, and in-person and virtual events, our mission is to build an authentic and fun-loving culture centered around family and community health,” said David Gonzalez, Marketing Operations Coordinator and member of Dukal’s Culture Team.

A Lasting Impact

While the physical structure of the home will stand for years to come, the impact of the day extends far beyond the construction site. Employees walked away with a renewed sense of connection to their colleagues, their community, and Dukal’s mission of making a difference.

As Dukal continues to support initiatives that uplift and empower, partnerships like Habitat for Humanity serve as a meaningful reminder of what can be accomplished when teamwork, compassion, and purpose come together.
